Nestled deep in the Superstition Mountains in the Arizona Sonoran Desert sits Tortilla Flat.
Back in 1904, we were established as a town and stagecoach stop. Over the past century,
we have faced devastating fires and floods, each time, rebuilding.
As a favorite for family day trips in Arizona, we are also a destination for global tourists,
offering a unique small town experience
and one of the best family day trips in Arizona for eating, drinking, shopping, and exploring the history and legends of the Tonto National Forest, Apache Trail, and the Lost Dutchman's Gold.

​TAKE A DEEP BREATH
You've just driven one of the most beautiful scenic roads in Arizona, how about a cold drink and a bite to eat at the Superstition Saloon and Restaurant? Real saddles serve as bar stools where you can enjoy a cold brew, tall, frosty prickly pear lemonade, or sarsaparilla. Our unique wallpaper is made from real dollar bills from visitors all around the world. Enjoy our world class restaurant. We serve the freshest burgers, hottest chili and coldest drinks every day!

TAKE A WALK TO THE MUSEUM
Mosey down the boardwalk and visit the little red schoolhouse at the end of town. It's been completely remodeled and now shares a wealth of information.

Follow the wall clockwise to learn the history of the Superstition Mountains, the Stories of The Lost Dutchman's Gold, and the history of the Native Americans in this area, and their contributions to life in the valley today.
The rest of the museum is a journey through time, sharing our trials and tribulations as well as our triumphs. There's lots to learn about how the Salt River Lakes and Rivers provide water to the entire Phoenix valley, how the dams work, and the fires and floods that have caused us to rebuild.

STOP IN THE COUNTRY STORE
After all the learning, stop into our Old Fashioned Country Store and enjoy a scoop of world famous Prickly Pear Gelato. Our homemade fudge and warm nuts are also not to be missed. Grab some for the road, or flight home!
VISIT WITH THE BUSHONGS
Next to the Country Store is a display window in honor of a couple who lived in town in the 1920's. We can only imagine what it would be like to have lived here back then, but we got a letter from Alice in the 80s, which you can read to see how it was for her. Yes, there was a zoo here!

TOILET SEAT PHOTO OP
One of our favorite iconic moments are the three toilet seats hanging off the boardwalk. Stop for a pic, and post it with #tortillaflat to be featured on our social media!
